MEET JR RAMIREZ
JR is a family man and a 7th-generation rancher, born and raised in Laredo, who is dedicated to serving those around him.
He had to "earn his keep" growing up on the ranch, learning the value of hard work and determination. JR completed his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M in Kingsville and masters degree at Texas A&M University, going on to manage some of the largest ranches in the State of Texas.
JR serves on the Board of Directors for Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and on their Border Security Task Force. JR has also served our communities well as a member of the Wintergarden Groundwater Conservation District Board, the Nueces Regional Flood Planning Group, and the Agricultural Advisory Board for the Zavala County Appraisal District.
As a rancher in South Texas, JR is on the front lines of the humanitarian crisis on our southern border. On July 26, 2023, JR testified before the US House of Representatives with his first-hand account of the property damage, financial burden, and loss of life caused by illegal immigration.
In addition to strengthening our border Ramirez is running to ensure that Texas is planning for our future water needs, strengthening education opportunities for our children, and permanently and significantly lowering our property taxes.
JR and his wife Laura are proud parents of two young daughters. The Ramirez family are parishioners at Sacred Heart Church in Uvalde and active volunteers with Uvalde Youth Rodeo Club and the Uvalde County Junior Livestock Show.
